A Message from Our Founders

The idea for MAIA didn't start in a boardroom or a tech incubator. It started in our lounge, while we were discussing our six children and wondering what their lives would be like—and specifically, who they would choose to share those lives with.
As we talked, we also thought and spoke of some of our close friends who have struggled to find their soulmate and who have shared some pretty disappointing experiences with us while using popular dating apps. We were struck by how much had changed, and not necessarily for the better. We saw and heard about the "swipe fatigue," the endless hours wasted on ghost-profiles, and the growing frustration of a generation that felt like they were being treated as digital commodities rather than human beings. For many, finding the right partner has begun to feel like a second full-time job.
We realised that while technology was supposedly bringing us closer together, the tools available were actually making genuine connection harder to find. People were exhausted, their privacy was being sold, and their mental wellbeing was being sacrificed for "engagement" and ad revenue.
We knew there had to be a better way.
